Signal Rock. Southern Oregon.

Yet another vista from Mt. Ashland. Signal Rock. It used to be a landmark guide to pioneers in this area. Some locals know it by another (unmentionable) name or two. This vista is all Southern Oregon - but only just, I think. Look right and it's California.

I love this mountain (when we can see it). It has so many 'moods'. Some just absolutely take your breath away. Fresh snow, over a beautiful Rogue Valley.

A dusting of snow, and a speck of sunshine.

Well, it's that time of the year. We have had some snow in the valley, but none of it lasting much more than a few hours or so. There was a beautiful dusting of snow on the surrounding mountains yesterday, the last day of the year. And I love the crisp conditions I managed to capture in this photo, along with a sliver of sunshine peeking through the clouds, and a bird atop one of the tallest branches.

A place to enjoy summer days!

With all the forests and lakes and waterways in Southern Oregon, there is no shortage of great places to spend a summer day. One not too far from Medford is Lake of the Woods. It is a resort that has been around for over a century. Seeped in history. A place for great fun and memories. http://www.lakeofthewoodsresort.com/ With temperatures hitting over 100 degrees at the moment, it sure is a great place to be.

Chasing the Autumn Leaf Colors ...

Lithia Park in Ashland - the dam (up high). Cold and almost deserted, except for a photographer, his girlfriend, and me.
I felt I could get some wonderful reflections, and indeed I did. I love the colors this year. Usually the sun is not out, and usually rain has caused the trees to lose their leaves. I took 175 photos yesterday. This is but one of them.

Peaceful Pastures ...

Just 3 miles down the road from where I live. It was below freezing, so the pasture grass is tipped with frost. Love the colors - subdued but work so well together.
